There are criminals out there that will sometimes do everything in their power to escape from police. But jump into an ocean? An ocean filled with sharks? Yeah, that’s exactly what one North Carolina man did recently.
I’m talking about 20-year-old Zachary Kingsbury. Kingsbury was pulled over by police for a traffic stop, but things got hectic when police discovered some illegal contraband inside the vehicle and asked Kingsbury to exit the vehicle. And Kingsbury did just that. But he fled from the cops, ran towards the beach and jumped into the ocean to try and escape.
A drone followed Kingsbury who after one hour was 4,000 feet from the shore. Oh, and that’s when police noticed a shark swimming near Kingsbury.
“At that point, the operation became a rescue operation,” police said in a statement.
Check out the video below.
Kingsbury was finally caught by police three hours later. And the shark didn’t get to have a meal.
Kingsbury was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana of up to a half an ounce. But he’s one hell of a swimmer, I’ll tell you that much.
