Look, I’m not in any way condoning armed robbery here, but doesn’t it make more sense to do it in a place that’s not full of dudes who can literally beat you within an inch of your life? It seems like trying to rob an MMA gym might not be the best approach.
Some genius out in Burbank, Calif. decided that he wanted to stick some people up. He didn’t walk into a convenience store or a bank or any place that would be an easy score. No, this idiot decided hit a place full of professional fighters.
Obviously this guy wasn’t thinking clearly because instead of making off with any cash he walked right into getting his face bashed in.
Genius Attempts Armed Robbery At MMA Gym, Gets Exactly What You’d Expect
When the guy entered the business, passing the very obvious sign the says “fighters made here,” he pulled a gun on the those inside. Luckily for them, one of the instructors, lightweight MMA fighter Jacobe Powell, took this dude out using grappling techniques he’s mastered over the years.
“My instincts kicked in,” Powell told the local Fox affiliate. “I used my judo training to go ahead and subdue him, got the weapon away from him before the cops arrived.”
As you can see in the footage, the guy’s face was covered in blood as he keeled over in handcuffs. Bad day for him, it seems.
The interesting thing about this place is I’ve actually trained there, having sparred several rounds with some of their toughest fighters. I can tell you from personal experience that this is the WRONG place to try and stick up, unless you’re actually looking to get your ass kicked. I mean, if you really want to get wrecked by an MMA fighter, they offer a pretty reasonable membership for that kind of thing.
