The Top 11 Supervillain Movies We Actually WANT

It was bound to happen eventually. After nearly two decades of superhero movies ruling the roost at the box office, the big Hollywood studios are running out of big name superheroes. So what do you do when all the good “good guys” are taken?

If you’re Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox, you bring on the bad guys. Feature films are on the way starring notorious supervillains like The Joker, Harley Quinn, The Joker and Harley Quinn, Venom and Doctor Doom. And if they’re as financially successful as Suicide Squad was last summer, we’re only going to get more of them.

The problem, of course, is that not every great supervillain makes for a great movie. It’d be pretty hard to tell an emotionally resonant origin story about the giant world-eating alien Galactus, for example, and The Red Skull is a freaking Nazi, so nobody in their right mind would want to make him seem even vaguely sympathetic. So studios are going to have to choose their supervillain movies carefully, if they want them to succeed.

Fortunately, we’ve been reading comics for our whole lives and we’ve been paying very close attention to which supervillains are likable enough to carry their own story. Some of them are redeemable, some of them are hopelessly mired in their own obsessions and delusions, but all of them could be the fascinating lead of a blockbuster motion picture… if the studios listen to us, that is.

So here we go, with the 11 Supervillain Movies We Actually Want. Let us know which villains YOU would pick to join them!
