Louis C.K. once said you don’t have to be smart to laugh at farts but you have to stupid not to. This article is about all those movies that fall into the category of shallow comedies that still managed to their primary function and made us laugh. Unlike most of the artsy comedies that are basically dramas with one or two punchlines. Movies comedy fans like are those that make them laugh, it’s as simple as that, and while some might be disgusted by some of these 21st century “stupid comedies”, they’ll surely made us laugh out loud. Not just blow air out of our nose.
While Deadpool, for instance, is a movie with “toilet”/”teenage boy” humor, it was a commercial success, we focused on lesser known movies comedy fans will enjoy. Maybe some that have a low IMDB or RottenTomatoes rating, but a high laughs per minute ratio, which is all that should matter for comedy movies.
Movies Comedy Fans Aren’t Too Good For
MacGruber (2010)
One of movies comedy fans might be familiar with even if they haven’t seen it as it is a product of a reoccurring SNL sketch. Played by the exquisite comedic talent Will Forte, who is finally getting the recognition he deserves, MacGruber is a former special operative back in action, even though he’s the last person that should be. Vulgar and offensive (what isn’t these days?), it’s no wonder that MacGruber has a 5.5 rating on IMDB, but it will have you burst into uncontrollable laughter.
The Little Death (2014)
An Australian movie, so it’s not a surprise that it flew under the radar, but it perfectly fits the category of comedy movies that are too direct for some, as it is about sex fetishes. The movie poster is so straight forward that it probably put off a lot of the people before they hear anything about it. The movie is separated into five stories, five fetishes that is, and while some are more cultured the other, the last one just might be the raunchiest and the funniest.
Movie 43 (2013)
A movie that outraged the critics, they were calling it an abomination in unison as it has a 4% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but we feel it is roughly unfair. While it most likely isn’t a movie, but a collection of sketches, it is stupidly funny, so if you like raw, unapologetic, straight-forward humor you should check out movie 43. It’s worth noting that you’ll see many Hollywood A-listers like Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, and Halle Berry making fools out of themselves in it.
