We are living in the golden age of wacky comic books. Or is it the Silver Age? Modern? Whatever. I don’t want to nerd this place up immediately and lose half of you right off the bat. The point I’m trying to make is that comics are so much more diverse and accessible than they used to be, and the funniest part of that is seeing the crazy concoctions, crossovers, and all out lunacy that hits the shelves every month.
Surely you immediately noticed that this is a list of comics that are already on the stands and not upcoming. That was intentional, believe it or not. As a comic fan, there is nothing more annoying to me than solicits. Don’t get me wrong, I love to know what’s on the horizon, but then I just get antsy and have to wait for the actual release dates. So instead, we rounded up the craziest comic books put out this past month so that once you know they exist, you can waste no time going out and seeing how ridiculous (but usually entertaining) they really are.

Grumpy Cat / Garfield #1

Crossover comics, even when the concepts are a bit out there, are nothing new. But most of the time, as you'll see in the next slide, they involve two properties that can play well off each other. For example, Adventure Time / Regular Show #1 came out the same week as this very confusing entry. Perhaps two painfully unfunny felines make a right.

Justice League / Power Rangers #5

Make no mistake, this did not make the list for its "pop culture powerhouses colliding" element. It's here for being cancelled mid-miniseries. It's been three months since Issue #4 and lord knows if we'll ever see a conclusion. But for now, they still went ahead and put out the fifth. Great, now I gotta read the first four over again to remember what happened.

Nightwing: The New Order #1

With DC Comics smack in the middle of a Rebirth of its universe, and a main event currently centered on Batman, releasing a comic based revolving around his former protégé and setting it in a dystopian future where he is essentially the bad guy just seems like weird timing. That said, if anyone is going to pull it off, it's former Nightwing writer Kyle Higgins.
