Taforo’s music career is no side hustle as the two-time recipient of the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and graduate of the Eastman School of Music and California Institute of The Arts has appeared on Spoon’s Hot Thoughts and Duncan Thum’s soundtrack for season 3 of the Netflix Original Series Chef’s Table.
Crave is exclusively premiering Taforo’s new solo single “Who Will”. The bouncy track tackles a harsh subject with a playful Chromeo-like tone that’s capped off with a stirring sax solo that carries it home into your heart.
Here’s what Taforo had to say about this new track, “‘Who Will’ is from my upcoming album entitled, You Are. This song was inspired by my interactions with a homeless man who I see on the way to work everyday. Basically this song is calling into question how we view and interact with homeless people in this country.
“We all deserve to be respected and we all deserve to have the means to survive. Who will let us be ourselves? Who will reach out and help another fellow human who is struggling?
“How is it that there is such disparity in wealth and more importantly what can be done? This song is asking these questions and for me is a way of looking inward for what makes us all connected despite all the differences that we perceive in each other.”
