And now let’s talk about the last great year for big screen comedies: 2008. If every year were like 2008, we would be swimming in funny movies on a consistent basis. Seriously, just this year alone produced half as many hilarious movies as all of the next decade combined.

1. Tropic Thunder
We haven’t had an ensemble comedy this strong since, and who knows if we’ll ever see one again with this kind of budget. Plus, this was the resurgence of Tom Cruise in a role so out of his character, viewers didn’t even realize it was him.

3. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
You probably haven’t watched this one in a while. It’s definitely worth revisiting. The amount of jokes loaded into one movie is just staggering.

4. Pineapple Express
The scene with Rogen and Franco in his apartment early in the movie where they’re getting high and just chatting is such a perfect scene. It’s crazy to imagine that originally their roles were going to be reversed.

5. Role Models
It would be really easy to look at the cover of this one and assume it’s idiotic garbage, but the entire cast is incredible. Jane Lynch is at her absolute best and steals every scene she’s in.

6. In Bruges
If you’ve never seen In Bruges, please watch it. Not even for me, for you. Don’t watch any trailers because the marketing wasn’t done properly; just dive right into it.
