We are living in the golden age of wacky comic books. Or is it the Silver Age? Modern? Whatever. I don’t want to nerd this place up immediately and lose half of you right off the bat. The point I’m trying to make is that comics are so much more diverse and accessible than they used to be, and the funniest part of that is seeing the crazy concoctions, crossovers, and all out lunacy that hits the shelves every month.
Surely you immediately noticed that this is a list of comics that are already on the stands and not upcoming. That was intentional, believe it or not. As a comic fan, there is nothing more annoying to me than solicits. Don’t get me wrong, I love to know what’s on the horizon, but then I just get antsy and have to wait for the actual release dates. So instead, we rounded up the craziest comic books put out this past month so that once you know they exist, you can waste no time going out and seeing how ridiculous (but usually entertaining) they really are.

Vampirella has been revamped and shuffled around companies more than the Spider-Man movies. But that's OK, because The Starchild, The Spaceman, The Demon, and The Catman have come to L.A. to help her battle a demonic force threatening to take down rock 'n' roll from the inside out. Hey, we told ya these comics were nuts. You don't like it, read "normal" KISS comics instead.

GWAR: Orgasmageddon #1
Price: $3.99
Shift uncomfortably from '70s rock bands who inexplicably have ongoing comic series to '80s metal bands with even crazier outfits and personas who also have a comic book to their name. If you thought KISS teaming up with a vampire lady sounded outlandish, let's just say the description of this book includes the phrase "the heroes of GWAR trample through time like a deranged Bill and Ted on bath salts" and just move on.

The Flintstones #12
Price: $3.99
Not all comics have to be otherworldly or completely wacko to make this list. In fact, the reason this book made the cut is simply because DC has recently begun crafting a formula of modernizing old properties (more on this later) and this one has garnered somewhat of a cult following. The Flintstones brims with hard-hitting social commentary on the 21st century while simultaneously taking place in the Stone Age. It's obviously still a work in progress, however, as this was the finale issue of the series. It's too bad sales weren't better, because fans were pretty bummed to see it go.

Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens #4
Price: $3.99
The title of this series pretty much speaks for itself. Currently, the series involves a road tripping mad scientist cooking up xenomorphs in a stolen Predator ship, and JD tailing behind. It gets a little complicated after that. If you prefer your franchise mashups in twos instead of threes, perhaps something in the vein of Planet of the Apes / Green Lantern is more your speed.

Price: $4.99 each
Any property, no matter how eccentric, will only be as good as how seriously you take it. So combining Looney Tunes characters with some of DC's hottest and grittiest heroes is sure to be a smashing success, right? No, we're series, it was a smashing success. IGN recently gave Batman / Elmer Fudd Special #1 a perfect 10. And there were so many more.
