Foot Locker released a new Father’s Day commercial on Wednesday featuring many of the hyped up NBA Draft lottery prospects, including, De’Aaron Fox, Jayson Tatum, Jonathan Isaac, and yes, the polarizing Lonzo Ball.
Now while the script for the spot is genius, I also have to use the most overused word of 2017 — savage.
I really wonder how LaVar Ball took to this script? Did he even know about it? The controversial father has been the primary reason some believe NBA teams are steering clear of drafting Lonzo in the first round.
Footlocker noticed how insane LaVar has been over the last several months, so while the other future NBAers sentimentally reminisce how their father has truly supported them on their journey en route to their dream, Lonzo has his own words while thinking about his dad:
“When your dad berates your high school coach” …
“When your dad sits you down and tells you where you’re going to college” …
“Copyrights your name to make it a family lifestyle brand” …
“The public spats with all-time greats” …
“And then tells 29 out of 30 teams to not bother drafting you.”
No matter what happens, this spot is a heads-up play by Footlocker, and one we will look back on decades from now whether the baller is a future Hall-of-Famer or a bust.
