Sony debuted a new gameplay trailer for Days Gone, the upcoming post-apocalyptic game from its Bend Studios.
The game closed out Sony’s press conference at last year’s expo, and E3 2017 saw them push it to the front of their presentation and show off some more action before its release later this year. The footage showed its bearded protagonist Deacon St. John taking on some human enemies, before encountering on a zombie horde munching on some brains. After sneaking past the undead, Deacon uses them to his advantage by planting an explosive on the side of a wall, with it exploding only to unleash the zombie horde onto an enemy outpost.
The footage also included some Uncharted-esque banter between Deacon and his sidekick, Manny, along with a giant mutated bear. All-in-all the game has yet to offer anything we haven’t seen in other games, but it looks nice and using the zombies to our advantage looks like a fun mechanic.
Days Gone takes place two years after a cataclysmic event that wiped out all of humanity, transforming millions of others into “Freakers,” or “zombies” as everyone else calls them. It will be released on December 29, 2017, and it’ll be the first game developed by SIE Bend Studio since Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow in 2010.
