2017 is lining up to be a big year for Marvel TV on Netflix. Iron Fist debuted earlier this year, The Defenders miniseries is coming in August, and The Punisher is rumored to launch in November. However, 2018 may be even bigger, as three full seasons of Marvel television shows could potentially drop on Netflix.
Via Bleeding Cool, Entertainment Weekly has apparently confirmed that Netflix intends to release Jessica Jones season 2, Daredevil season 3, and Luke Cage season 2 in 2018. For those of you keeping score at home, that would be 39 new episodes of Marvel content in a single year. Considering that Daredevil and Luke Cage haven’t started filming yet, that’s going to be a tall order. But it’s not impossible.

The real question here is what comes after 2018? At the moment, the second season of Luke Cage is the most recent renewal on the docket for Marvel. Iron Fist hasn’t been officially renewed yet. It’s also likely that Netflix will continue to follow the formula of Marvel Studios’ movies by running single seasons of its returning shows while building up to another Defenders miniseries. If that’s the case, then there could potentially be more Marvel TV shows on Netflix as well. If we had to guess, an Elektra spinoff has the biggest potential to go forward. And as much as we’d like to see an R-rated Ghost Rider series on Netflix, that character seems to be tied up at ABC.
