The mastermind behind polarising podcast S-Town is coming to Australia for some ticketed chinwags with fans.
If you need a refresher, Brian Reed’s seven-episode investigative project has become a hotbed of controversy, with its story about the troubled life and tragic death of an eccentric clock repairer in rural Alabama.
S-Town‘s subject, John B. McLemore, committed suicide during the podcast’s production, which has prompted many critics to label Reed’s decision to pursue the project as “morally indefensible”.
Nonetheless, S-Town has taken the internet by storm and broken download records to become a pop-cultural phenomenon.
And if you have an opinion on the subject, you can tell Reed himself when he comes to Australia for a pair of appearances this July.
He’ll be visiting Melbourne for the latest instalment of the Wheeler Centre’s Invasion of the Pod People, before heading to Sydney for a “part conversation, part Q and A” titled We Need To Talk About S-Town.
