In 1985, the Japanese anime series Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA came America under a new name: Robotech. Prior to that, these three series were completely unrelated to each other. But thanks to some clever rewriting, the three distinct eras told a complete story across multiple generations and more than one alien invasion.
Robotech is still considered to be one of the all-time great anime, and it’s coming back this summer in a new comic book series from Titan Comics. But this one is going to be different. Titan has promised that this won’t simply be another retelling of the Macross Saga. It’s a very modern take on the series, courtesy of the incoming creative team of Brian Wood and Marco Turini.
CraveOnline is proud to debut an extended preview of Robotech # 1, including a few pages that have never been seen before. The battle for the fate of the world starts now!

This issue features a story by Brian Wood with art by Marco Turini. Here’s the official description from Titan Comics:
Not just another retelling of the Macross saga …
In July, the story continues as we bring Carl Macek’s original vision full circle. Taking into account every iteration of the series, this new Robotech #1 casts a fresh eye over classic characters like Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lynn Minmei, Roy Fokker, Claudia Grant, and Henry Gloval. Brian Wood and Marco Turini take us back to a Macross Island where *nothing* can be taken for granted.
Robotech # 1 will be released this Wednesday, July 26, in comic stores everywhere.
