Are you one of the countless, lonely souls who’ve desperately tried for years to work for a sports team? Have you always wanted to be around pros or future pros, learning from a Hall-of-Fame coach? Well your odds have slightly increased if you have a love for college basketball! And, well, if you’re willing to be paid in bread and water!
I lied. You won’t even be paid bread and water.
Duke University is looking to hire three people for ‘Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships Assistant.’
The description is as follows:
“will primarily assist with all event operations, facility management and special event operations as well as the additional needs of the Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships department. The Athletic Facilities, Game Operations and Championships Assistant works closely with both internal and external constituents, as well as Duke University coaching staffs and spectators. This position presents a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a Division I athletic department, including in-season and off-season.”
It’s a job at arguably the best college basketball school in the country, and you get to hang out with Coach friggin’ K!? This job sounds like an amazzzzzzing opportunity … until you read that “THIS POSITION IS UNPAID.”
Here’s a screenshot, just in case the position changes.
It’s a 9-5, full-time job (not internship) that will last 11 months, taking up some nights and weekends as well … You should know that Duke’s athletic budget is over $91 million.
Don’t give up hope, my fellow sports lovers.
