The annual Sydney Film Festival has unveiled its 2017 program, filled with 12 days of cinematic creations for local film fiends.
288 films have been announced for this year’s program, which will be show across 400 different sessions.
Among the program highlights are Indigenous director Warwick Thornton’s We Don’t Need A Map, which will screen on opening night; the premiere of Cleverman Season 2; the Whitney Houston documentary, Whitney; new The Go-Betweens doco, The Go-Betweens: Right Here; John Lydon doco, The Public Image Is Rotten; and Australia’s first Muslim rom-com, Ali’s Wedding.
Elsewhere there’ll be Spookers, a documentary about the New Zealand horror theme park; Mayhem, from The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun; as well as Netflix’s original action-adventure Okja on closing night, starring Tilda Swinton.
