Ask me about the last time I saw a grown adult ride a toy horse, and I’ll tell you it likely involved a lot of alcohol and countless Amish. Telling you, the Amish love rumspringa.
But that’s not the case anymore after seeing the latest trend out of Finland.
Ladies and gents, let me introduce you to ‘hobby horsing,’ a new ‘sport’ that includes grown adults straddling a wooden toy horse, and competing for points. Yes, this is real. SO real, in fact, they claim to already have about 10,000 ‘riders’ competing in the country.
My reaction:
But hey, who am I to judge, right?
Here is an AP article that talks about the “phenomena” taking over the country. On one hand, some ‘horses’ fetch for hundreds of dollars. On the other hand, some of the younger teens express the ‘sport’ is therapeutic for them. Good for them.
I guess there are worse things in the world. If it’s spreading positivity, then sure, yay for girl power.
