Hey, United Airlines, lucky for you and your “let’s drag a paying customer off the plane” ways, you can take a back seat for now as a fellow competitor has just shit the bed, too. And we are talking about Delta Airlines.
The incident started on Delta Airlines flight 2222 from Maui to LAX, and it involves Brian Schear and his family. The chaos kicked off after Brian and his family were asked to give up a seat they had purchased for their 2-year-old son, and instead carry him on their lap the entire flight.
“You’re saying you’re gonna give that away to someone else when I paid for that seat? That’s not right,” Brian says to the airline employee.”
And it gets worse, as the family is threatened with jail, and told their kid will be tossed in foster care. Nice job, a-holes at Delta.
Brian originally bought the seat for his 18-year-old son Mason, but sent him home on an earlier flight so that he could use the seat for his 2-year-old Grayson. So Delta was saying that since they overbooked the flight because they are complete idiots, and the passenger on the original ticket for the seat isn’t using it, that Brian must give it up.
Check out the incident below.
In the video, another airline employee tells the family that under FAA regulations, 2-year-old children are not allowed to have their own seat. And that’s complete bull, as according to the FAA, parents should buy seats for young children and use a hard-backed child safety seat.
Even Delta themselves say it on the Delta website: “We want you and your children to have the safest, most comfortable flight possible. For kids under the age of two, we recommend you purchase a seat on the aircraft and use an approved child safety seat.” Wow.
Eventually, Brian and his family voluntarily leave the flight. According to ABC 7 Los Angeles, Brian and his family left the plane around midnight, and had to get a hotel room and pay $2,000 for another flight the next day…on United. Come on, Brian!
Anyway, get ready for the shitstorm, Delta.
