Two years ago, Cinemax brought its signature action series, Strike Back, to an end after four seasons with Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester in the leading roles. And while Stapleton and Winchester have moved on to other projects, Strike Back is getting a comeback on Cinemax with a brand new cast and a new iteration of Section 20.
Today, Cinemax unveiled the first look at the new cast for Strike Back season 5. From left to right, you can see Daniel MacPherson as Samuel Wyatt, Roxanne McKee as Natalie Reynolds, Warren Brown as ‘Mac’ McAllister, and Alin Sumarwata as Gracie Novin.
Additionally, the new season will also feature Nina Sosanya as Adeena Donovan, Katherine Kelly as Jane Lowry, and Trevor Eve as Morgan Ives. The storyline will pick up a few years after Section 20 was disbanded in the fourth season, as a new team is put together in the wake of a prison break that allowed a notorious terrorist to escape. Along the way, the new Section 20 will presumably bond on the battlefield while uncovering ” a vast web of interconnected criminal activities” that threaten to “change the face of modern warfare forever.”

Strike Back is a co-production between Cinemax and the British network, Sky; which also produced the first season of Strike Back with Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln in the leading roles. In the U.S., that season is called Strike Back: Origins, and isn’t counted as one of Cinemax’s official seasons. Although the two incarnations of the show do share some continuity with each other.
The fifth season of Strike Back is currently in production in Jordan and Hungary. A premiere date on Cinemax will be announced at some point in the future.
