David Hasselhoff is On the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Soundtrack!

Few contemporary films have as vibrant a soundtrack as the original Guardians of the Galaxy, a film that not only juxtaposed 1970s pop hits with absurd space opera imagery to amusing and eclectic effect, but also transformed its soundtrack – bestowed to the protagonist by his dying mother – into one of the film’s most important characters. At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill was given yet another “Awesome Mix,” and fans have been dying to know what was on it ever since.

Wait no further. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives in theaters on May 5 but the track listing from “Awesome Mix Vol. 2” has just been revealed at Rolling Stone. The soundtrack features classic songs from Electric Light Orchestra, Fleetwood Mac, George Harrison, Sam Cooke, Cheap Trick and Cat Stevens, and a new song called “Guardians Inferno” by The Sneepers, which features none other than 1980s icon David Hasselhoff.

Of course, this isn’t the first time David Hasselhoff has made an appearance in a Marvel movie. The Baywatch and Baywatch Nights star also played Col. Nick Fury in Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., a tv movie written by future BladeBatman Begins and Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer. (Spoiler alert: it’s not a good movie.)

We won’t ruin where or how these songs feature into the film, but if you want to familiarize yourself with the songs that were in James Gunn’s head as he wrote and directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, here they are, in all their glory. What do you think?

1. “Mr. Blue Sky,” Electric Light Orchestra

2. “Fox on the Run,” Sweet (Note: Song only featured in the trailer, not the movie)

3. “Lake Shore Drive,” Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah

4. “The Chain,” Fleetwood Mac

5. “Bring it On Home to Me,” Sam Cooke

6. “Southern Nights,” Glen Campbell

7. “My Sweet Lord,” George Harrison

12. “Father and Son,” Yusuf / Cat Stevens
