Maybe the best thing about Anderson .Paak is the way he effortlessly bridges genres and eras. He has a classic soul man voice and an unabridged 21st century hip-hop songwriting sensibility. The fusion reminds us that American black music – going back to the jazz and blues that predate R&B – is rooted in the sensual and the political, the sexual and the esoteric. In this clip, as one half of NxWorries, along with Knwledge, he rides a smooth soul groove as he croons ‘Scared money don’t make none, baby talk is cheap…” in a series of scenarios that pay homage to the cult film classic Paid in Full. The “Scared Money” clip also features a snippet of “Best One,” a taste of what’s to come from the forthcoming remix album Yes Lawd!
