In the waking death of season seven of The Walking Dead, we are more than overjoyed to rank all of the characters we’re glad are dead. Let us make ourselves perfectly clear, spoilers lay ahead so tread through this forest lightly, heel to toe, because we’re giving you all the best gruesome The Walking Dead deaths, gory photos and GIFS from the AMC zombie drama’s seven-year run.
While there has been a surprising number of upsetting deaths for diehard fans in the past couple seasons, The Walking Dead has had some heavy deaths from early in show (Hershel, Merle, Shane) that we could have done without. But there have also been plenty of people we were thrilled to see go so strap into this solid ranking of our favorite character deaths in the show’s seven years of zombifying existence.
We’ll start light in our top-12 death list and work up to our favorite deaths, including some original characters whose faces you haven’t seen in awhile, along with some surprise bonus fun that’ll give you a good chuckle at the end. The only question remaining: Who’s going to be the one to kill Negan?

12. Spencer

The entitled nepotistic son of Alexandria's former leader felt he was next in line to lead Rick's people. Watch Negan's gruesome murder of Spencer that shows otherwise.

11. The Governor
The creators tried to make The Governor seem badass, but compared to Negan, he just likes a huge annoying pussy. Kill him!

10. Denise
Nothing makes us want to put an arrow in someone's eye more than the girl who won't quit freaking out.

9. Owen
Everyone wanted to see Owen die after all the people he attacked from Alexandria, but of course he redeemed himself at the end. If only he'd known Denise was going to die shortly after, maybe he'd still be annoying us today.

8. Bob
Oh Bob, we're glad those cannibals ate his leg. Tainted meat, Bob, that's what you are.

7. Carter
If you recall, Carter (Ethan Embry from Empire Records) was the annoying guy raising his hand against Rick in the season six opener. When he was attacked and wouldn't shut up, well, here's a great clip of Rick helping Carter out. Shut up, Carter!

6. Noah
We were a little worried that Noah might stick around. You can imagine how excited we were when he got stuck in the revolving door.

5. Lori

The main character cannot go through metamorphosis without great loss. We were happy to see Lori go, terribly annoying wife material. Albeit she was one of the better looking women on the show in the second season, the show has given us plenty of wake (the one time we liked Carl, never again).

4. Nicholas
Remember Nicholas, the dickhead loser who fucked Glenn over (not once but twice) when he killed himself on top of the dumpster? We thought we lost Glenn, but everyone was sure happy that he somehow crawled under the dumpster. Man, this guy probably gets called all kinds of bad names in real life.

3. Sam
Fuck this kid. His brother sucked, but his mom, Jessie, was was a babe. Way to get your whole family killed, you little twerp. We'll give him kudos for almost getting Carl killed. Nice way to start part two of season six.

2. Glenn

Once they teased Glenn's death with the dumpster in season six, we were ready for him to go. In the end of six and start of season seven, we saw the most gruesome death of all in Glenn, and for that, we thank him.

1. Dale
But nothing tops Dale finally shutting the fuck up. Season two's drama picked up with him and lead into the Shane versus Rick battle, maybe the finest scene of the whole show.
