Go ahead and add ‘giant killer python’ to the list of ways I most definitely don’t want “to go.”
Unfortunately an Indonesian man wasn’t so lucky.
A recent, graphic video out of the southeast Asian country shows a group of men cutting open a giant python, only to reveal a full grown man inside its belly — ya know, pure horror movie stuff.
According to reports, the footage comes out of a remote Indonesian village called Salubrio, on the island of Sulawesi. Villagers were looking for a missing man named Akbar when they found the snake. They saw what appeared to be the shape of shoes inside the python’s belly. That’s when they killed it, cut it open, and found this …

According to environmentalists, animal-human encounters like this are only increasing as the rapid rate of rain forest destruction increases as well.
“As humans push further into wildlife, habitat conflict like this is more likely to occur as both humans and wildlife require space,” said Farwiza Farhan, the chairwoman of Forest, Nature and Environment of Aceh, an environmental organization …
… Sulawesi, a heavily forested island in eastern Indonesia, is much less developed than Sumatra, but it has undergone a major expansion of palm oil plantations over the last decade, which could make python attacks like the one that occurred this week more likely, experts said.
Makes sense. Quit cutting down trees and maybe us humans won’t be eaten alive by giant pythons. Sounds like a fair trade.
As for my upcoming honeymoon? A domestic destination — say Six Flags — sounds good right about now.
