Already one of the hottest destinations in Cabo San Lucas, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and its Quivira Golf Club just completed new additions and will amp up soon for even more evolution. You really can’t have too much of a good thing, so Pueblo Bonito Pacifica will soon start work on a second golf course to accompany its recently completed Tower accommodations.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica rests along a perfect stretch of warm water beach near land’s end on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. It’s a resort dedicated exclusively to a well-heeled, low key, recharging atmosphere fueled by the sun and welcoming sea. Admittedly, there are times of the year where aggressive tides make the nearby beach dangerous for swimming, but the property offers enough attractions to make any guest forget the riptide.

Now emerging from its latest renovation, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica was running at full speed when it invited a group of travel writers down to explore its environment. Equipped with a full service spa, a network of swimming pools, multiple bars, restaurants and ample space for guests to enjoy either poolside sun or beachfront relaxation, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is all-inclusive — allowing its lucky guests to enter a fantasy world where top shelf travel amenities are at one’s immediate disposal.
The most recent major addition to Pueblo Bonito is The Towers at Pacifica with newly designed gift suites and personalized 24-hour British Butler Institute-certified butler service. The Towers at Pacifica add multiple stories of additional residences with special access to the property’s fitness center and the new Whale Watching VIP Lounge. The Towers’ Deluxe Ocean View Rooms offer unobstructed views of the ocean, a king-size bed with imported Egyptian-cotton bedding and a private terrace.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica also offers a number of Tower Pool Suites, one bedroom accommodations complete with private plunge pools for a secluded splash. Each pool suite packs a separate living room with a devoted dining area.
Visitors using the main pool areas can always take advantage of the pool butler service, offering ensures amenities such as: A selection of books, magazines, iPads and audiobooks; Nespresso service; a selection of sunblock, sunglasses and mobile device cleaning services; assistance with spa, dinner and golf reservations and arrangements for mini foot and hand massages.
A prime example of Pueblo Bonito’s otherworldly vibe is its beach dinners. A tasteful, hearty buffet awaits long community tables under the stars as the surf rolls nearby. Cirque-style entertainment brings fire dancers and jugglers to the diners, while cabanas and bonfires await in the distance with after dinner drinks. The resort’s skilled sand craftsman than spend five hours building a fire pit out of the sand, complete with sand benches and supplies for s’mores.
During this most recent media visit, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica unveiled changes to its most important attraction — the adjoining Quivira Golf Club. Designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, Quivira is a gorgeous, friendly resort course designed and built to take full advantage of its seaside environs.
In keeping with the standard Nicklaus design philosophies, Quivira is challenging, but fun. The Golden Bear never wants to make a course so challenging that resort players can’t enjoy at least some of the holes. So, he likes bowl-edged fairways and approaches that give a decent player a good shot at getting on in regulation. However, Jack also wants any player to earn his or her score as the round draws to a close. The course’s final holes offer everything from mid-fairway boulders to severe elevation changes.
My favorite hole must be the fifth. It features a par four, hard dogleg left, downhill to an ocean cliff. However, the green is also reachable in one over the ocean for a player with an ambitious drive. Those who lay up and play downhill to the green get an amazing view even if he or she blows the easy popup shot to the putting surface.
In keeping with Pueblo Bonito Pacifica’s all-inclusive philosophies, Quivira is studded with multiple Comfort Stops. While an average course offers cart girls with a few beers and a bag of chips, Quivira’s Comfort Stops offer waiter service and a different menu at every spot. A pretty golf course is always enhanced by a roast beef slider.
While already dominating a sizable stretch of the Cabo San Lucas shoreline, the minds behind Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and Quivira have no intention of resting on past achievements. First, the resort still hold significant beach stretches where it could build additional accommodations. Meanwhile, Quivira reps all but confirmed the property would be adding a second 18 hole golf course.
The new golf track would require some changes to the current Quivira layout, but we can count on Jack Nicklaus heading south of the border again to put his touches on the new course.
