Overwatch Orisa Guide: What You Need to Know About the New Hero

Blizzard has unveiled the latest Overwatch hero, with Orisa making her debut in a surprisingly swift announcement from the developer.

Currently available to play on the PTR on the PC version of the game, Orisa is a tank robot who is predominantly focused upon helping teammates get out of sticky situations. Unlike Ana and Sombra, Orisa looks set to be a much simpler hero for players to get to grips with, boasting a host of abilities that can push her team towards victory along with an ultimate that will likely be the decisive factor in many matches from here on out.

Take a look below at what you need to know about Overwatch‘s newest hero:

Orisa’s Origin

Orisa was invented by 11-year-old robotics expert and Numbani resident Efi Odalele, who upgrades one of the OR15 robots designed to protect the city, gives it a “heart” (personality module) and sends it off to fight evil. After Numbani is attacked by Doomfist, who returns to the city in order to retrieve his powerful gauntlet, Efi and Orisa work together in order to make the world a safer place.

Fusion Driver

Orisa’s main weapon is the Fusion Driver. An automatic projectile cannon, the Fusion Driver works much like a heavy machine gun, firing out 200 bullets per round but also slowing her movement while doing so. The Fusion Driver doesn’t dish out a substantial amount of damage, but it is great at consistently pummelling an enemy with bullets and is a pretty strong weapon all-round.

Halt

A mini-graviton is sent out that pulls an enemy towards it for a short period of time. A line is formed between the graviton grenade and the enemy it pulls in, helping indicate who it will affect. While it doesn’t have the reach of Zarya’s Ultimate, it can still help pull an enemy into the line of fire or away from an objective.

Protective Barrier

Orisa’s protective barrier is similar to Reinhardt’s, only it is stationary and has curved corners for additional protection. This will make Orisa a more potent attacking hero than Reinhardt, with her main function not being limited to defending her team by acting as a human shield. The barrier has 900 health, so it’s less capable of withstanding enemy fire, but it has a swift cooldown that will allow you to quickly throw it back into the action when it’s been destroyed.

Supercharger

As far as Ultimate abilities go, Supercharger may not be the most exciting but it could certainly be one of the more useful. Throwing down this device increases the damage dealt by allies within its line of sight, causing the enemy team a lot of problems in the process. The Supercharger has incredible range, with you able to move a considerable distance away from it and still receive the benefits of its damage buff.
