The Next Overwatch Hero Could Be a Spider Robot Called “Anchora”

Blizzard has dropped a huge hint that a new Overwatch Hero is on the way, but that’s not the biggest news to come out of this revelation.

An alleged Overwatch leak that appeared on 4chan back in January has seemingly correctly outlined the future of the game, with it containing information that has either already been proven to be true, or looks incredibly likely to happen in the coming months. The leak already correctly predicted that there would be Lunar New Year skins to celebrate the Year of the Rooster, including a “dope” skin for Mei, and now it seems that the leaker may have also correctly revealed the identity of the next Overwatch Hero.

Today Blizzard posted an “interview” with Efi Oladele, an 11-year-old girl from Numbani with a penchant for developing artificially intelligent robots and a desire to create Omnics. It is being speculated that the next Overwatch Hero will therefore be a creation of Efi’s, with her potentially controlling the robot in the game.

This theory is backed up by the claims made in the leak, with the individual who shared the information with 4chan writing: “Contrary to speculation, Doomfist is not up next. The upcoming character is a female omnic quadraped codenamed ‘Anchora’.”

They continued: “In order to balance out the tank roster, the game needs another tank that acts as an anchor, like Reinhardt. Shit name, I know. Anchora hails from Numbani, and has a West African accent.”

This would certainly fall in line with Efi’s story, and the appearance of a spider-esque Omnic has also been hinted at in artwork for the game:

It even seemingly made an appearance during Sombra’s cinematic, as outlined in a post on the Overwatch subreddit:

Anchora having a West African accent may also indicate that Efi would be controlling the Omnic from inside its shell, similar to D.Va and her mech. More mechs is never a bad thing, so we hope that this leaker continues to hit the nail on the head.
