The number one pastime at South By Southwest (SXSW) besides nursing hangovers with breakfast tacos is to #humblebrag. “Oh, I saw this and that band in a watering hole in Austin that used to be an actual watering hole..”

Mark my words, Zipper Club will be on top of a lot of social media timelines at SXSW 2017 with their avant-garde looks, rock star cred (James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins produced their forthcoming debut) and streaming-friendly sound.

Get a head start on the not-so-subtle social media self promoting as Crave is exclusively premiering the art rock trio of Lissy Trullie, Mason James and Damar Davis’ new single “Breath”.

Showcasing Zipper Club’s ability ride a playful new wave sound that deals with serious themes like “obsession and the lengths we go to protect our delusions when infatuated” according to Trullie in an email. The hooky-heavy formula may sound familiar, yet is fresh thanks to a classic case of opposites attracting — Trullie is a former Nylon magazine cover girl, while James is a former member of a gutter punk band Cerebral Ballzy.

Here’s what James also had to say about Zipper Club’s new single: “It is important to try and take one’s breath away whenever possible in order to keep things interesting. There’s a duality to breathing that is reminiscent of relationships. The constant push/pulls of a relationship can feel repetitive and mundane to the point where we no longer pay attention to them.”

Check out Zipper Club at SXSW, where they be playing at Javelina’s on March 15, 2017 at 11:00pm —11:40pm. For more sights, sounds and info on the band go (HERE).
