In a world turned upside down, it’s no wonder that aliens are hot again with movie hits like The Arrival and cult followings for TV shows like Ancient Aliens and another, Traveling the Starsfeaturing Action Bronson and his friends watching the show.

Tom DeLonge has been on the alien tip for years and now the “UFO enthusiast,” who said that he quit Blink-182 for “national security reasons,” has written the first of a three-volume investigative series detailing his extraterrestrial investigations.

Sekret Machines: Gods (which hits shelves March 7) is co-written by author Peter Levenda, and promises to take readers on “an eye-opening investigative journey to the heart of the UFO phenomenon,” according to a press release. Pulling in interviews and input from scientists, intelligence officers, and military officials, the book claims to “(transcend) the speculation of journalists, historians and others whose conclusions are often either misinformed or only tease around the edges.”

The book, yes it’s non-fiction, has got some sci-fi cred with a foreword by Dr. Jacques Vallee, who inspired the character of French researcher Lacombe in Steven Spielberg’s 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Vallee, also a dedicated UFO researcher, seems to anticipate that DeLonge’s findings will be laughed at. “The sightings have been ignored by academics, summarily brushed off by politicians, censored by churches, classified by the military, and ridiculed by the media. Yet the reports continue to come.”

Regardless if you believe in aliens or not, you have to admire DeLonge going all-in as he also announced that he is directing a sci-fi feature, Strange Times, that centers on “a rebellious group of San Diego skateboarders who take it upon themselves to investigate extreme paranormal activity around town, only to embark on an adventure that they could have never imagined.”

The movie will feature new music from DeLonge’s other band, Angels & Airwaves, and is based on the Strange Times franchise, which includes a graphic novel and sci-fi YA trilogy that DeLonge is co-writing with author Geoff Herbach. You can find the first book, Strange Times: The Ghost in the Girl on Amazon.
