Legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu, who was behind the score of iconic video game Final Fantasy, has announced that he’s heading to Sydney for a one-off Australian show this July, to celebrate the game’s 30th anniversary.
Few games have survived as long as Final Fantasy, which was first released in 1987. It’s a game dependent on its visuals and score as much as anything else, and this exclusive show will celebrate that.
Uematsu will play music from the game’s 30 year history, alongside a full symphony orchestra as part of ‘Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy’. The performance will be combined with a light show and visuals from the game.
If you’re after a little more than just nostalgia, Uematsu is also promising new arrangements and scores created specifically for the show.
The Final Fantasy concert has been touring the world since 2002. Tickets for the new 2017 Sydney show are on sale Thursday, 16th February, and you can check out the details below.
The producers behind ‘Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy’ also have three other Australian shows lined up (without Uematsu), under the title ‘A New World: Intimate Music From Final Fantasy’. Those smaller shows will take place in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and details can be viewed at the official tour website.
