It’s been a busy week in the music world and a lot of it has to do with newly-sworn in President Donald Trump. Arcade Fire is the latest artist to release a politically-charged anthem this week following the likes of Gorillaz and Fionna Apple among others.

The Canadian alt-rockers’ first new song since the Grammy-nominated Reflektor in 2013 enlists soul powerhouse Mavis Staples for an appropriately titled track, “I Give You Power”.

Released exclusively on Tidal, a streaming service in which the band has a financial stake, the disco-gospel, barn burner is clearly aimed at Trump with this powerful line:

“I give you power / Over me / I give you power / But I gotta be free / I give you power / And now I can say / I give you power / I can take it away,”

The song could be a sign of more tunes to come as Arcade Fire members have hinted at a new album the past six months. What is know is that the band will release a DVD of its 2015 documentary film, The Reflektor Tapes, on January 27.
