This Is The L.A Rams’ New Head Coach, Youngest In NFL History

Sean McVay was born January 24, 1986. He was hired by the Los Angeles Rams Thursday to be their new head coach, making him the youngest NFL head coach in history.

How do you feel about the direction of your life right now?

Here’s another shot of the Rams’ new head coach, who is younger than William Hayes, his 31-year defensive end.

To be fair, the pic above is from a few years ago. He looks much older with his beard now. Right?

Yeah, there’s also the fact McVay won’t be the same age as Pete Carroll until 2052.

Via The Big Lead, below are the youngest coaches at the time of their first head coaching hiring, since 1960:

Lane Kiffin, Oakland, 2007: 31 years, 8 months

Harland Svare, LA Rams, 1962: 31 years, 11 months

Raheem Morris, Tampa Bay, 2009: 32 years, 4 months

David Shula, Cincinnati, 1992: 32 years, 7 months

Josh McDaniel, Denver, 2009, 32 years, 8 months

John Madden, Oakland, 1969, 32 years, 10 months

Don Shula, Baltimore, 1963, 33 years

Al Davis, Oakland, 1962, 33 years, 6 months

The four youngest guys hired since the merger eventually got fired from their teams, which isn’t saying much since the coaching carousel is moving at all times. But let’s just hope McVay’s tenure lasts longer then Kiffin with the Raiders (1 year).

McVay has been an assistant of some sort since he was 22-years old. So how does one get so many amazing breaks? Being the grandson of former 49ers GM John McVay certainly helps.
