What Would Diplo Do? is described as “Louie meets WorldStar HipHop crossed with This Is Spinal Tap”.

Oh, wait there’s more.

James Van Der Beek will play a fictionalized version of Diplo aka Thomas Wesley Pentzin a collection of parables about life as told through the eyes of guy who can bring 60,000 people to their feet… but kind of sucks one-on-one.”

The Dawson’s Creek star (and aspiring Power Ranger) has experience parodying himself on the ABC series Don’t Trust the B— and on Funny or Die, will also write and executive produce (along with Diplo) the six-part series, which is Viceland’s first foray into scripted content.

If all this sounds like someone fell on their head doing the “Handstand Twerk”, note that WWDD is being shepherded by Viceland co-president Spike Jonze, who oversees the network’s programming slate.

“When James was in the office a few weeks ago, he told me the story lines he had sketched out, they were, of course, funny; one even got me emotional which made it that much more funny. This idea has gotten inside James which makes me really excited to see what he makes and happy to have it on our channel,” Jonze told Deadline.
