FX And FXX Announce 2017 Mid-Season Premieres

FX and FXX’s mid-season lineups were recently announced, with programming beginning January 4th.

On FX, Legion, a co-production with Marvel Television, brings viewers a new take on the world of X-Men, as a schizophrenic patient is confronted with the possibility that the voices and visions he experiences may be real. Legion is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey), a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years, and now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza, Parks and Recreation), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David’s routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller, Fargo).

In Tom Hardy’s Taboo, set in 1814, the series follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy, Mad Max: Fury Road), a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself.

And Emmy-nominated actor Louie Anderson is back as everyone’s favourite TV mom in Season 2 of Baskets – losing his wife and his rodeo job, Chip (Zach Galifianakis) jumps on a train to get the hell out of Bakersfield, but a gang of gutter punks, the police, and a sudden death drag him right back into the drama he tried to escape.

On FXX, the gang returns, and Frank resurfaces, for Season 12 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; and Josh (Jay Baruchel) rides the long-term relationship rollercoaster on Season 3 of Man Seeking Woman.
