Discovery Announces 2017 Winter Programming Slate

Discovery unveiled the network’s Winter 2017 schedule, headlined by the new original Canadian spinoff series Heavy Rescue: 401, airing Tuesdays at 10pm beginning January 3rd.

From the makers of Discovery’s top-rated series Highway Thru Hell and sponsored by Toyota, the series’ exclusive automotive sponsor, Heavy Rescue: 401 takes on the many twists and turns of the people who face incredible stakes in a fast-paced, relentless environment, keeping roads clear across Southern Ontario’s 400-series highways. Keeping pace with their B.C.-counterparts from Highway Thru Hell, the heavy rescue operators of Southern Ontario fight to clear wrecks and keep drivers moving on the busiest stretch of highway in North America.

Discovery’s jam-packed January ventures deep into the wilderness, in other isolated places, and even in the sky with all-new seasons of Alaskan Bush People (Mondays at 10pm beginning January 2nd), Killing Fields (Wednesdays at 8pm beginning January 4th), Street Outlaws (Thursdays at 10pm beginning January 5th), Mayday (Fridays at 10pm beginning January 6th), and Dual Survival (Sundays at 10pm beginning January 8th).

Additionally, Discovery’s winter schedule features the previously announced “Future Tech Week” on Daily Planet (7pm from January 3-6). New episodes from current seasons of Discover’s hit series are also set to debut in January including Gold Rush (Tuesdays at 9pm), Moonshiners (Wednesdays at 10pm),  and Alaska: The Last Frontier (Sundays at 9pm).

February’s programming slate begins with a dose of the creative spirit in Daily Planet’s “Invent This Week” (7pm from Feb. 6-10), before hoisting the anchors on an all-new season of Mighty Cruise Ships (Sundays at 7pm beginning February 12th). Later in the month, the Bunce family drills through unforgiving mountainous terrain in search of more green gold in a new season of Jade Fever (Tuesdays at 10pm and 10:30pm beginning February 28th).

Then, from Oscar-winning Executive Producer James Cameron comes the documentary Return to Atlantis (airdate TBD). The riveting special features an exploration team investigating several new theories about the location of Atlantis, the identities of its inhabitants, and the disaster that wiped them from the Earth more than three millennia ago.

Rounding out the new February premieres on Discovery is a behind-the-scenes look at how everyday things are manufactured in an all-new season of perennial favourite, How It’s Made (airdate TBD).
