If you were worried that Jeremy Clarkson’s post-Top Gear car show The Grand Tour would stray from the formula established by his hugely popular BBC series, then fear no more. The Grand Tour appears to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor very closely, with the key difference seemingly being that it’s a little bit more ambitious than its predecessor.
The Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond era of Top Gear was known for three things; the banter shared between its three co-hosts, its fetishisation of impossibly expensive cars, and it’s ludicrous, globe-trotting challenges. The first two factors are present and correct in the debut trailer for the new Amazon-exclusive series, but the third appears to have been upped exponentially, with the trio venturing to the pyramids of Egypt, an abandoned ship located in the middle of the desert and even partaking in a spot of jet-skiing for their new show.
The show will be streamed exclusively via Amazon’s Instant Video service, which is only available to the online retailer’s Prime subscribers. For those disappointed in the latest series of Top Gear (so pretty much everyone, then), it looks like The Grand Tour will fill that void perfectly.

Meanwhile, the BBC’s Clarkson-less version of Top Gear continues to experience issues, with host Chris Evans having dropped out of the show and actor Matt LeBlanc, who was co-host in the previous series, set to take over the main presenting duties.
