Two weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival (9/30 to 10/2 and 10/7 to 10/9) kick off this Friday. It’s an epic lineup with festival favorites like Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Kendrick Lamar, Flume and Mumford & Sons but don’t sleep (or pass out) on other acts that will also be tearing up stages throughout Zilker Park.

Here’s a curated ACL playlist to shed some light on other “can’t miss” sets that you should “check” off on your handy festival app.
“Too Much Is Never Enough” by Bob Moses

Bob Moses is actually the twosome of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance, who make slow-burning, tortured love songs with simmering electro-jazz rhythms, woozy guitar rock and the hypnotic voice of Howie. It’s hard to describe other than very good, perhaps dance floor noir?
Set Time: Sun 10/02 at 5:00pm-6:00pm on Cirrus Logic stage
“Banana Brain” by Die Antwoord
Die Antwoord’s Ninja and Yolandi Visser are back on the mic after an acting hiatus with a new “dark and ratty” album that returns to their shock rap roots. The dynamic dyed-hair duo have always been great at grabbing headlines which, ironically, has devalued their actual rap-rave music by critics who view them as a novelty act. That’s unfair as their reckless energy and just plain weirdness are undeniably must-see, especially live.
Set Time: Fri 9/30 at 6:00pm-7:00pm at Honda stage
“I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore” by Lucy Dacus
The 21-year-old Richmond, VA singer/songwriter has come full circle since dazzling local audiences (and drooling A&R reps) at last March’s South By Southwest festival. Now, she rides back into Austin on the heels of her critically acclaimed debut album, No Burden.
Set Time: Sat 10/01 at 2:30pm-3:30pm on BMI stage
“DJ Z-TRIP Super 7 Mix” by Z-Trip
Z-Trip is the definition of a def DJ, who has more in common with the godfathers of hip-hop that you see on Netflix’s “The Get Down” than the button pushers of today. His mash-up mixtapes in the early 2000’s are collector’s items and his ACL team-up with the legendary LL Cool J is not to be missed.
Set Time: Sat 10/01 at 4:30pm-5:30pm on Samsung Stage
“Firewater” by Gina Chavez
Austin’s 2015 Musician of the Year plays a bilingual blend of Latin folk and American pop that personifies the cross-cultural influences and artisan DIY ethos that make this city the “Live Music Capital of The World.”
Set Time: Fri 9/30 at 4:45pm-5:30pm on Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage
