Knight Fighting Is An Actual Thing

Are you a fan of Gladiator? Game Of Thrones? Mixed Martial Arts? If you said yes to at least two of the three, your ultimate dream sport has arrived.

It’s called M-1 Medieval Fighting. And it’s brutal.

It’s mixed martial arts with blunted swords and 40 pounds of armor, just as if someone invented a time machine and zapped two rival knights into a caged octagon.

The sport reportedly started in Russia as a form of entertainment between MMA fights. Now it’s taken a life of it’s own.

Here’s one fight from last year.

And here’s a brutal KO from last month where a knight got his head bashed in from a shield.

Leave it to Russia to invent a sport that involves swinging swords inside a cage.

Many of the athletes don’t have MMA experience, but do have HMB experience (Historical Medieval Battles).

I have a feeling our Medieval Fairs are about to get a hell of lot more interesting.
