Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has previously promised that music would be an important part of the upcoming TV series on Netflix. But we don’t think anyone expected a music legend to actually have a role on the show!
The newest, and possibly final, trailer for Luke Cage‘s first season has dropped, and it features Mike Colter’s title character marking out big time for Method Man, one of the living legends of hip hop. Hilariously, Method Man is also a big fan of Cage and he’s equally excited to meet Marvel’s latest hero. You can see that sequence at the 2:03 mark of the trailer, but the preceding footage does an excellent job of establishing who Cage is and fleshing out the supporting cast that will be appearing this season.

Luke Cage may be the title character, but the trailer illustrates that at least two of the leading female characters are also stepping up for Harlem. Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple has an expanded role on this series, and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight seems destined for even bigger things as she tries to wrap her head around Cage’s impervious skin while attempting to take down Mahershala Ali’s Cottonmouth. Cage may be in a war for Harlem’s soul, but he won’t be alone!
Still need a primer for the show? Well, you’re in luck. At Comic-Con, we spoke with several cast members from Luke Cage, including Mike Colter and Theo Rossi, Simone Missick & Frank Whaley, and Mahershala Ali, in addition to our chat with Cheo Hodari Coker and executive producer Jeph Loeb.
All thirteen episodes of Luke Cage will premiere on Friday, September 30 on Netflix.
