Odds are you missed a recent Swedish soccer match between Järna SK’s reserve team and Pershagen SK because you were doing anything else, but one player was reportedly sent off the field for dropping ass.
That’s right, kids. According to The Guardian, a 25-year-old left-back for Järna was shown his second yellow card and then a red card just for farting during the match.
Adam Lindin Ljungkvist said he had a “bad stomach” during the match, so at one point, he “simply let go.” That didn’t sit too well with referee Dany Kako, who proceeded to throw Ljungkvist out of the game because he deemed it “unsportsmanlike.”
Ljungkvist said he was shocked by what had just happened, so he decided to confront Kako about it.
“I asked the referee, ‘What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?'” Ljungkvist said. “‘No,’ he replied…I don’t get it, but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not…. I was annoyed, but there were no bad words. I just said he was a buffoon.”
Even a defender on the opposing team couldn’t believe Ljungkvist was tossed from the game just for ripping ass.
“I was standing a good distance away, but I heard the fart loud and clear,” Kristoffer Linde said. “It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen on a pitch, and I’ve been playing football since I was eight years old.”
So, yeah. That was a real story.
