You would think that world class skiers have enough on their minds already when it comes to surviving as they careen down a hill at 80 miles per hour while sharply turning left and right to stay outside of the flags. There are icy slopes, fences and rather large trees on the other side of those fences, each of which could lead to an absolute disaster or perhaps even death if just the slightest thing goes wrong on their run.
And now, they apparently have to be on the lookout for enormous crashing drones:
That was Austrian world champion skier Marcel Hirscher cruising down the slopes of Madonna di Campiglio, Italy during the World Cup slalom Tuesday night and nearly getting crushed by a camera drone in the process.
Asked about it afterward, Hirscher said, “Quite honestly, if I look at the pictures from the drone crash on the Internet, I get sweaty palms and tremble,” which is weird because that’s exactly what I said about that time I had to help give grandpa a bath.
