Argentine Soccer Player Knocks Ref Out After Getting Yellow Card

Wow. Imagine what would have happened if he would have given him a red card.

According to The Washington Post, what normally would have been a provincial league match in Argentina that nobody cared about took a turn for the worse Sunday afternoon when a player punched and knocked out a referee after he received a yellow card.

The match between Ferro and Tiro Federal was “abandoned” after Alejandro Roncaglia jacked referee Arnaldo Beron, who laid on the ground for 15 minutes afterward. He was taken away in an ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was given stitches and later released.

“I don’t remember anything,” Beron said. “I never thought this would happen to me.”

It’s unknown what will happen to Roncaglia, as the Argentine soccer federation has yet to rule on the matter. But no matter what happens, I think we can all agree that labeling him an asshole is a good place to start.
