This is What Happens When Grapefruit-Sized Hail Hits Your Windshield

Um, you can turn the windshield wipers off now, dude.

According to AOL, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms ripped through the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area Sunday evening, and some of those storms brought hail “slightly larger than a grapefruit” with them.

A team of storm chasers was driving through Stephenville when one of the hailstorms hit, and it pretty much destroyed their windshield in the process.

Ironically, seeking shelter underneath a tree during the thunderstorm was an even more insane decision than chasing the storm in the first place. While both men escaped injury this time around, the National Weather Service says people “shouldn’t stand near trees in a thunderstorm due to the lightning hazard and the fact that trees blow down.”

“In a recent 15-year period in Ohio alone, over 40 persons were injured and at least nine were killed by trees toppled during thunderstorms. Many of the victims were in vehicles.”

And for the record, bro, you don’t “need to tweet” when grapefruit-sized hail is raining down on your busted vehicle. You “need” to get the hell out of there.
