If you were wondering what it would take to unseat Odell Beckham’s one-handed touchdown catch as the “Best of the Best” top play on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” here it is.
According to The Columbian, a Washington high school basketball player propelled his team to victory Monday night by hitting not one but two half-court shots in the same game.
Woodland High School’s Ryan Sturdivan hit the first of his half-court buzzer-beaters at the end of the third quarter. Then, with his team down one point to Kelso High School and just 1.6 seconds left in the game, Sturdivan threw up another prayer that made its way through the net, and Woodland walked away with a 49-47 victory.
According to ESPN’s “Sport Science,” the odds of a player hitting two half-court shots in the same game are somewhere in the neighborhood of 1-in-2,500. After appearing via phone on today’s edition of “SportsCenter” and unseating Beckham as the “Best of the Best,” we’ll go ahead and peg the odds of Sturdivan’s parents needing to have a talk with their son about using protection at 1-to-1.
