Tigers Catcher Takes a Foul Ball to the Groin

It’s official: Nothing is funnier than watching a grown man get hit in his marbles. Well, as long as that grown man isn’t you.

There were many painful moments throughout the world of Major League Baseball this weekend. A father caught a home run ball in one hand while he was falling backwards and holding his baby in the other. Elsewhere, dozens of fans who had never set foot on a baseball diamond thought it was a good idea to stick their bare mitts out for a line drive foul ball.

But perhaps the funniest and probably the most painful moment occurred in last night’s Tigers-Red Sox game when Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino fouled a pitch straight back into Tigers catcher Alex Avila. And as advertised, it smacked him right in his naughty bits:

We’ll assume that Avila wears a cup because he was somehow able to shake that off and stay in the game. Either that or the Detroit Tigers are the first team to draft a player from the Unsullied.
