Following in the footsteps of cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Wollongong is launching its very own Fringe Festival, presented by Yours & Owls.
The schedule has just dropped and it’s a feast of music, film, art and the weird and wonderful. The Fringe festival is a lead-up to Yours & Owls festival,which this year has delivered a mighty lineup that includes the likes of Big Scary, Ball Park Music and The Jezabels.
But the music will begin long before the Yours & Owls festival gates have opened. The Fringe festival has also delivered a music program stretched out over two weeks, which includes bass king Moonbase Commander and Sydney chillers, Sons Of The East.
In a move that will no doubt strike at the heart of your nineties kid nostalgia, Cheese TV will also be appearing live, serving up trivia, tunes, cocktails and gags.
There’s plenty more to sink your teeth into over the two week program. Dr. Karl will be heading to Wollongong to spread science knowledge, there’ll be a trippy art installation Moon Beach plus a night at the movies with David Stratton of David & Margaret At The Movies fame.
“It is both a celebration of what is going on within Wollongong, and also a perfect platform that allows us to bring some of the most interesting ideas and showcase them to an entirely new audience,” said Ben Tillman, the promoter of the festival.
The Fringe Festival runs from Friday, 23rd September right up until Yours & Owls on 1st & 2nd October.
