Rumor: Red Dead Redemption HD is Coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC

Red Dead Redemption HD is reportedly coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC, according to a rumor from a source in Korea.

According to Korean site Game Focus, the HD remaster of Red Dead Redemption is being pushed through the Asian localization process, leading to speculation that it will be announced during the PlayStation Meeting on September 7th. According to the source, the game is expected to launch within the first half of 2017, though this is subject to change.

There has been talk of a potential Red Dead Redemption sequel for years now, with many believing that Rockstar was set to unveil Red Dead Redemption 2 at this year’s E3. While that wasn’t the case, on previous investors calls Rockstar’s parent company Take Two have still listed RDR as one of the developer’s most notable franchises, meaning that there is obviously plans for a sequel to eventually see the light of day.

Red Dead Redemption HD may not present fans of the original game with the follow-up they’ve been waiting for, but if a sequel is planned it will at least provide a stop-gap for players to reintroduce themselves to the story of John Marston. It is hoped that the remaster will share the same graphics engine as Grand Theft Auto V, which ran on a finely tuned version of Rockstar’s RAGE engine.
