The Weeknd, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye, will be featured in the 2017 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records for Most streamed album on Spotify in one year, current (unique listeners).’
He made the cut with his album Beauty Behind the Madness, which was released in August of 2015. It includes the track “Earned It,” which was nominated for an Academy Award and was released as a single from the soundtrack to the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. The album has sold over 2 million copies.
The Weeknd also set the bar for the most consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 by a male solo artist.
Additionally, Justin Bieber will also be included in the Guinness Book edition, being recognized in eight categories for everything from chart dominance to internet and social media presence (CBC News).
