The No Man’s Sky PC release has been troubled to say the least, with many users reporting that the game is plagued by an insufferable frame rate, drawing comparisons with the woeful launch of Batman: Arkham Knight last year. However, PC owners of the game have discovered an incredible fix that can make your game run smoothly, even if you’re playing it below the minimum requirements.
The trick, discovered by Reddit user ExtremeCactus, is as follows:
- Go to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man’s Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS
- Find and open the file “TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML”
- Find the “Gsync” option. This is defaulted to “true”. Change it to “false”.
It’s as easy as that. According to those who have utilized this trick, it has steadied out their dipping frame rates immensely, providing them with a much more enjoyable experience as a result. Previously many had complained that the game would routinely dip below 30 fps, with many claiming that it frequently grinds to a halt.

Developer Hello Games issued a patch soon after the launch, which helped to remedy problems such as the game crashing upon launch. However, issues with the game’s performance have persisted since the release of the patch, so hopefully this hot fix will provide a swift solution for those who want to get back to exploring those 18 quintillion planets.
