Lollapalooza 2016 | Spend Your Sunday Funday On Crave

Lollapalooza birthday weekend continues. On more day you say? I told you festivals are a marathon not a sprint so stay hydrated, eat some greasy cheat day food and re-charge for day four. If you haven’t tuned in yet to our live stream of the festival’s historic edition on Red Bull TV, you’ve missed surprise sightings by Malia Obama and Chance the Rapper (not together, although that would be dope), steal the moment set from upstarts Rufus du Sol and an epic greatest hits performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to close last night’s show. Sunday fun day’s schedule is heavy on dance-rock and EDM so the party is going to go out with a bang(ers). Here are my picks in BOLD. Enjoy!

SUNDAY, JULY 31

* All times in CDT, local Chicago time zone.

Channel 1

2:00pm – Live Show Begins

2:10pm – Panama Wedding

3:00pm – FIDLAR stands for “Fuck It, Dog, Life’s A Risk.” They’re an LA garage/punk band who’re known almost as much for their bad boy antics as their playfully snotty songs.

4:00pm – Future (replay)

5:05pm – Local Natives

6:10pm – Jane’s Addiction (replay)

7:25pm – Flume is a made-for-festival DJ, who plays glitchy, danceable songs that get the people moving.

8:30pm – LCD Soundsystem’s comeback tour makes its way through Chicago and having seen the godfathers of ironic dance-rock myself at this year’s Coachella, I can tell you that the reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Channel 2

2:00pm – Live Show Begins

2:10pm – Smino

2:40pm – D.R.A.M.

3:20pm – Muna

3:45pm – St. Lucia

4:30pm – Halsey is who Miley Cyrus wants to be when she grows up. The former homeless, tri-bi pop star has risen from obscurity to Soundcloud star to top of the pop charts organically by being a show stopper whose songs actually feel real and not a corporate bi-product.

5:30pm – Aurora

6:15pm – Silversun Pickups

7:30pm – Bloc Party

8:30pm – Ellie Goulding is the anti-Halsey, a sugary pop princess who you just want to pinch.

Channel 3

2:00pm – Live Show Begins

2:10pm – Sir the Baptist

2:50pm – Lindsey Stirling

3:35pm – Houndmouth

4:25pm – Louis the Child are the new “it” boys of EDM. Their collaboration with Icona Pop called ‘Weekend’ has become a summer anthem that will be the singalong song of the, well, weekend.

5:10pm – Snails

5:45pm – Yellow Claw

6:45pm – G-Eazy (replay)

7:45pm – Adventure Club

9:00pm – ZHU: will electronic music’s mystery man show his face? What is certain is that the enigma will be dropping the neon-lit songs off his just released Generation Why album. There isn’t a better way to end a good party than with some dirty sax solos.
