Superman is dead! At least the Superman of the New 52. In his place, the Post-Crisis, Pre-Flashpoint Superman is back!
If that’s too confusing for you comic book newcomers, think of it this way. The Clark Kent who married Lois Lane returned to action in a world and a timeline that had its own Superman. Lois and Clark built a life together and had a son named Jonathan, who has developed superpowers of his own. Now Clark is stepping up to replace this world’s Superman, and his son may be the next Superboy!
However, Jonathan’s powers appear to be inconsistent and he’s not invulnerable to harm. In CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Superman # 3, Lois and Clark bring their son to the Fortress of Solitude to better understand what’s happening to him. But the Kryptonian artifact known as the Eradicator is already in the Fortress, and Superman is about to have a fight on his hands!
Peter J. Tomasi, and artists Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray are the primary creative team on this issue, with covers by Gleason/Gray and Kenneth Rocafort. Here’s DC’s description of the issue:
“THE SON OF SUPERMAN Chapter Three: In #3, with a touch that means death, the Eradicator proves he’s a match for Superman, but his super-powered offspring may be more than anyone can handle—including the Man of Tomorrow.”
Superman # 3 will be released on Wednesday, July 20.
