Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine, the first ever virtual reality lightsaber game, will launch on Monday, July 18th for the ultra-low price of $0.00. That’s right – one of the most hotly anticipated VR games will be completely free, with it set to release early next week for the HTC Vive.
The game functions as an experiment of sorts, with Lucasfilm’s VR developers ILMxLAB having used in order to test out the technology. How successful Trials on Tatooine will be will likely impact ILMxLAB’s first stab at a full-length VR game, but early impressions have been good for the virtual reality experience.
The game will appear on Steam on July 18th, and will be exclusive to the HTC Vive. It tasks the player with defending the Millennium Falcon from waves of Stormtroopers using their lightsaber, deflecting their laser fire with the Jedi weapon.
